Mother and Hattie did washing and I did some writing. Edna, Hattie and I took PM train for Jackson. I paid Gladdis' tuition, looked after a room for her, etc. We had a postcard picture taken of Hattie, Edna and self. So many want pictures. Hattie and Edna went to visit sick girl. I went on to Ann Arbor on M.C.R.R. I found Mr. Schneider home, 214 Washtenaw, where I am to hold meeting this week. They seem like blessed saved people. About 30 gathered. Had a very good meeting, much liberty preaching. I am to stay with them. Wednesday, January 17, 1917 Rose at 7 o'clock so rested. Have fine steam heat room and I had plenty of fresh air. I took a littlr breakfast. Took 8:10 care for Detriot. I was to see about piano that Mr. Leing was to ship the Wessington Springs school that they have failed to recieve thus far. Mr. Leing was very kind, giving the date piano was shipped etc. I wrote Bro. Almstead. Had dinner with John who is doing well in his soul. Saw Darwin, had a chance to talk with Mrs. Goss about some things. Took 3 o'clock train back to Ann Arbor. About 40 gathered for meeting. Had free time preaching. One girl saved and found the Lord who had been saved before. Mrs. Klotz, G. Meth. woman, called us up and told us how wonderfully she had been set free. Thursday, January 18, 1917 Rose at 7 o'clock, had a spirit of prayerbefore rising and felt my soul was in touch with heaven while I waiting in prayer. Spent part of forenoon writing Bro. Schneider. Had old typewriter I got a chance to use. Went to Bro. Bachelor’s and took dinner. They came here from the Mayorlle circuit. Had prayer with them at 2 p.m., Mrs. Schneider with us. Went to Sr. Schneider and called on Leuthern family and prayed with them. Went beyond the University and prayed with Father Snellgrove, and old F.M. preacher who had united with the congregation people. Wrote Hattie to come as Sister Schneider desired I should. Blessed time reading the word and in prayer. Had much liberty preaching, several seeking the lord. Old Mr. Snellgrove advised against F.M. class but I am praying God will overrule. Friday, January 19, 1917 Rose early, spent the time until 9 o’clock in prayer and the reading of the work. Bro. and Sister Schneider were greatly blessed with me in prayer. Hattie did not come. I went to Sr. Lelsser near University and took dinner. Went through the Engineering building. It was a great study. How fine to know what is taught here. I cannot but I do know God. Took supper with a Bro. and Sr. Holtzman who have been attending the meetings. She has laid aside her gold and greatly blessed. Evening, house full again. Several greatly blessed, others seeking God. Saturday, January 20, 1917 Took time for study of the word and prayer. Bro. and Sr. Schneider and I had another grand time in prayer. Hattie came on noon car. I spent all forenoon catching up my writing on machine. Hattie and I went out to Sr. Lelsser to dinner p.m. Visited Mrs. Avery as Ruth desired we should. She was very kind but very cold. Saw small Advent Church Ruth thinks we can get but it is so far out. Supper with Bro. Schneider. Read the general rules of the church and commented on same. Told them we would organize tomorrow if they so desired. Told them how much it meant to be a Bible Christian. Sunday, January 21, 1917 Never saw a better outlook for our work and so many hungry people. Had blessed time in school. Asked how many desired to join and 15 with the 4 who belong in other places joined amid shouts and tears. No music in services today. Several gold rings given me for missions and $12.75 in cash. P.m. had grand healing service. About 12 anointed. Every room packed hungry Methodists, etc. Leuthren woman and two daughters grandly saved, blesses sight. Could hardly close the meeting. Many were ready to sing and shout until morning. |
